Electric Steam Humidification
There are two basic types one is the disposable canister type the other is the serviceable element in the water tank.
There are also two types of heating elements resistance heating and electrode.
All the different types of electric steam humidifiers work on the same principle they use electrical
energy to boil water causing steam. Most of the electric humidifiers produced today are fully modulating with electronic fill,
dump, skim and safety systems standard.
The Good!
The new electric humidifiers have very good controls to save as much energy as possible while maintaining
a fairly stable set point, large capacity in a small package, if you run DI water or RO water the elements can
last a long time but you have to order the system as DI or RO compatible.
The Bad!
Electric humidifiers are expensive to run about 90% more than the ultrasonic,
If you do not run RO or DI water expect to spend a lot of time cleaning your system every 6 months,
if you have the replaceable canisters they get expensive to replace, electrical service has to be installed in addition to water and dump lines on install.
The Ugly!
Expensive to operate.
